UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson says he will impose more regional restrictions if the country does not cope with the growing number of corona cases.

Northwest England is one of the regions hardest hit by what Britain sees as a second wave of the pandemic. Stronger rules have been announced for the Lancashire region, but Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham is opposed to the demand that the region be placed in the highest risk category unless the London government provides financial support.

“I will step in to protect Manchester Hospital and save the lives of Manchester residents,” Prime Minister Johnson told a news conference on Friday.

The spread of the infection has increased dramatically, especially in the cities of Burnley, Blackburn, Blackpool and Preston. Nearby Liverpool and Merseyside are also affected.

– Some have proposed a national shutdown instead of local action. “I don’t agree,” Johnson said.
