The logic of the flashback fell Hamid Zafar

To read Rector Hamid’s opinions and formulations is to look into a dark hole. How could a person who has become known for his sober vision of the present express himself in this way?

“(…) Hazaras. You know these Mongols who claim to be 13-15 years old even though they are 25-30 years old. ” (February 2016)

Was there something purifying for Hamid Zafar? A valve for a director and government official who in public contexts needed to express himself politically correctly. Did you feel free? Hamid explains it as a way out for a time when he felt that “strong states defeat weak.” But the language?

“How can we hear you pray and pray on your miserable Jewish knees?” (July 2011)

In many ways, Hamid Zafar appears as a caricature of an Internet radical.

“The purpose of the book [“Om detta må ni berätta”, reds anm] is to create a kind of mass collective psychosis where students feed on how terrible the Holocaust was ” (May 2011)

It is brutal anti-Semitism, mixed with something childish and annoying.

“Are you a lover of terrorists, Mr. Rothschild?” (July 2015)

It went on for so many years, through so many changes in Zafar’s successful career. Like a repressed racist tour. The need to periodically open anonymous Twitter and Flashback windows and shout forbidden thoughts.

“My experience with Croats is that they are worse than cattle” (June 2011)

Hamid Zafar’s own reaction to the reveal is fascinating. It distances itself from everything, but strangely it does not present problems. Almost shrugging because words are part of him and, well, now we have another part as well. Because it is not his whole person.

“I think a lot of people have these kinds of opinions but they don’t express them in writing in any way. In my case, it happened because they expressed themselves through the internet. That’s the difference, ”he explained to DN.

Yes, everyone has had forbidden thoughts. But not everyone has had such hard thoughts or took them as long as Zafar. But you are correct that for the past twenty years, people’s forbidden thoughts have not only been told in secret, but have also been documented online. The documentation (hearing, but hidden behind anonymity) has given us a unique insight into the unfinished and sometimes disgusting thoughts of Sweden. Thoughts that in all other contexts are clouded by moral filters, common sense, and etiquette.

“He has an incredible Jewish appearance with a nose for rank. Although you can often read that he has Greek credentials, I find it difficult to believe that he is of Greek ethnicity. “ (September 2010)

Earlier this year, the “Flashback forever” podcast started, which has already become immensely popular. One of the presenters, “Scroll-Mia”, was interviewed about the success of the GP and then explained that: “Flashback offers the opportunity to air without risk. Anonymity is an important reason why threads become exciting and lively. It is a place where discussions take place that could never have arisen in reality. These glimpses of people’s private lives cannot be heard anywhere else in the world. “

Perhaps this is how it should be described. More than darkness, it is a glimpse into private life that Hamid Zafar did not think anyone else would connect with. That he can’t even connect with himself.

Now that flash has taken over his entire public image. It’s not fair, but everything else would be impossible for those who live off public trust. Because the only thing we know now is that the Hamid Zafar that we thought we knew, we don’t know at all.
