The parties return to the negotiating table, after receiving information about the final offer

Today the so-called talks between unions and employers were resumed. The talks are taking place between LO, PTK and the Confederation of Swedish Companies and are intended to lead to new rules in the Swedish labor market. Tonight seems like one more step towards a new deal. Sources tell SVT that there was a final offer at 6 pm The latest information, however, says that negotiators for the parties have returned to the negotiating table tonight. It is not clear if it is about adjusting the offer that has been made or if there will be longer negotiations.

Whatever happens, this does not mean that the conversations are ready, the final offer must also be reviewed by the respective organization and then possibly approved. The central parties LO, PTK and the Confederation of Swedish Companies have said that they will present a possible outcome of the negotiations tomorrow, Friday at 1:00 p.m.

Canceled at the end of the month

Talks about new rules in the labor market were suspended at the end of the month between September and October without result. The conversations include job protection, adjustment and skills development, and who should be responsible for the unemployment insurance fund. In practice, this is the first point on which it has been difficult to agree. Among other things, employers have wanted to discuss further exceptions to the priority rules and changed the rules for requirements for objective reasons when firing for personal reasons. Unions, among other things, have wanted to see changes for fixed-term employees, stop so-called work hour planning and more skill development.

Distrust movement threat

If the parties do not reach an agreement, the January agreement between the government and the Center Party and Liberals states that the so-called latest investigation will be turned into new legislation. Cooperating parties C and L have said they want the investigation to become law if the parties disagree. In that case, the Party of the Left threatens to declare a motion of no confidence against the government.
