The home help service visited the person for the last time at 7.30 pm on Wednesday. Between 8 pm and 9:30 pm, the person asked for help eight times. The night patrol received the alarm at 0130 and then visited the person, who was found dead.
– It is incredibly tragic and serious what happened, that a person tried to contact us without success. And he also did it on several occasions, says Gabriella Sjöström, social manager of Luleå municipality.
The incident will be reported and investigated, according to the municipality.
– We will conduct an IVO report of the incident and begin an investigation of Lex Sarah to learn more about what happened. Currently we only know that the person has needed help and that we have had a delay with the alarm.
The problems with security alarms began on October 8 after an update of a new alarm platform. Several townships in Norrbotten have since experienced reduced alarm function, various media report. The alarm provider Tunstall announced to Luleå municipality on Tuesday that the problems could persist for the rest of the week.
The municipality has asked relatives to contact their relatives to see how they are doing.
– We have requested additional supervision from those who frequently sound the alarm. With those who do not use the alarm as often, we have told them that they can contact us via a mobile phone number.
Municipalities are now waiting for a message from the provider when the alarm can be trusted again.
– Security alarms are not secure. We cannot trust that we will receive the alarms or that we will not have delays. It’s incredibly serious, says Gabriella Sjöström.
TT searches for the provider of the security alarms.
