The bomb from the WWII aircraft that divers tried to disarm outside of Swinoujscie exploded. The 2.4-ton explosives from the 75-year-old bomb caused a massive explosion, but no one was injured.

The so-called Tallboy bomb, discovered during dredging in the Polish port of Świnoujście last year, exploded during disarmament on Tuesday, the BBC reports. All divers who participated in the operation avoided injuries.

The risk of the bomb detonating during disarmament was estimated at 50-50.

Around 750 residents are being evacuated from a 2.5 kilometer area around the bomb, which was dropped by the British Air Force in an attack on a Nazi warship in 1945.

It had been said that the bomb with 2.4 tons of explosives would have enough power to create an earthquake effect. The Tallboy story did not end so drastically. But the shock wave was felt in parts of the city and the explosion caused a large waterfall, according to the BBC.
