Donald Trump’s tactics to win the election are incomprehensible

There is reason to wonder if President Trump really wants to win the election.

Nothing he does is intended to attract new voters.

My conclusion is that you are investing in getting 100 percent of your top voters to actually vote and you hope that is enough.

With his illness in covid-19, Trump had the opportunity to change his attitude towards the pandemic to attract new voters. The pandemic is the biggest problem in which even many Republicans believe that Trump has failed.

But instead of humbly acknowledging that he may have taken the ravages of the disease in America a little too lightly, the president is raising the tone even more.

Instead of showing that he takes the pandemic seriously, he now organizes a series of important campaign meetings that run the risk of further contributing to the spread of the infection. These meetings are directed only at his loyal followers and the sole purpose is to encourage them and the president himself.

For most ordinary Americans, it seems careless to bring so many people together at once. Infection control experts also agree on the inappropriateness of these types of election rallies, even if held outdoors.

To really show how he defies both experience and the wary public, Trump hosted a gathering of 2,000 guests on the White House lawn last Saturday.

He refused to enter a debate

On top of that, Trump refused to appear in the second debate against Joe Biden when he switched to a virtual event. Therefore, he lost the opportunity to repair his disastrous appearance during the first debate and to present his case to 70 to 80 million Americans for an hour and a half.

The one who has the most to lose in the debates is Joe Biden, who clearly leads in opinion polls, but where a failed debate could deflect the electoral wind towards him.

That makes many of Trump’s actions quite incomprehensible, almost to be considered a form of self-destructive behavior. In order to win on November 3, you need new voters, but instead of expanding, you act in a way that repels them.

Perhaps Trump cannot change his tactics. He just seems to have a position and is aggressively rushing forward without even pondering for a second whether he may be wrong.

In the president’s world, Trump is infallible.

Stable wire

Joe Biden’s leadership in opinion polls has been very stable for a long time. As early as this time last year, when it wasn’t even clear that Biden would be the Democrat allowed to challenge the president, Biden was leading by nearly 10 percentage points. Since then, the lead has varied, but it has never been less than five percentage points. After the pandemic hit the United States, Biden’s lead has increased again.

Even in key states that can switch between Republican and Democrat, Biden has had a steady lead that has grown after the crown.

Trump hasn’t been at the helm once in the last year.

When Trump was infected with the crown, there was much speculation that it could have a sympathetic effect on the American people. But the opinion poll that the Washington Post / ABC reports today instead points to Biden taking more nationally.

In a similar situation, nine out of ten candidates would change their electoral strategy. But Trump is heading into the looming abyss.

After all, it may still be correct. If Trump can fire so much at his supporters that they leave the house and vote, he still has a chance. Whenever Biden’s supporters believe that their candidate has already won and therefore think that it is unnecessary to go to the polls.

But nothing suggests that.

Defiance in court

On the contrary, the initial breakthrough and the mail-in vote indicate that Democrats are voting like never before and that Biden can move towards a landslide victory.

Therefore, one wonders if Donald Trump really wants to win or if he lives in a kind of self-denial.

He has already made it clear that for him losing equals electoral fraud. You may now be ready to challenge the result in court.
