“We see a continued marked increase in infections in the county and we evaluate home isolation of those who live or have lived with an infected person as an effective infection control measure in combination with ongoing infection monitoring and sampling. Those affected by the rules of conduct will receive information on this from our infection monitoring team or the treating physician of the infected person, “says Maria Rotzén Östlund, a physician in charge of infection control in Stockholm, in a press release. .
Infection between people living in the same home is one of the most common transmission routes for covid-19. In the past, people exposed to infections were advised to work from home, but not everyone has that opportunity. When the new rules of conduct relating to home isolation are introduced, these people may request the support of the operator of the Swedish Social Security Agency.
Those living with a found infected person must follow rules similar to those with covid-19. This means that all people who work or study in a high school / college or university, and who live or have lived with a person who has covid-19 during the contagious period, must always work or study from home for at least seven days . The days are counted from the moment the sample was taken from the infected person. The contagious period generally extends from one day before the first symptoms and at least seven days onward.
“The rules of conduct are the same for the entire country and apply regardless of whether the person who lives or has lived with an infected person found has symptoms or not. However, children and young people are excluded. They can continue to go to kindergarten or school as long as they do not show symptoms and parents without symptoms can go and pick up at school and kindergarten, ”says Maria Rotzén Östlund.
The one you need follow the rules on home isolation in Stockholm County, the infection tracking team working on behalf of Infection Control Stockholm, or the doctor treating the infected household member, reports this. The team or doctor provides information on what applies, among other things, by providing the home isolate with infection control sheets (also available at 1177.se). They will soon be available in multiple languages.
Information on the rules of conduct can also come from the person who has been found infected if they have been asked to inform their household contacts.
