The 128th edition of the Kentucky Futurity was decided at the classic The Red Mile in Lexington on Sunday night. It is considered the oldest classical trotting race in the world. Åke Svanstedt had up to seven horses in the three-year race, including the big favorite Back of the Neck which was ridden by Scott Zeron. The horse had a good ride, but began to roll into the trot at the last turn and the canter came off the leading beads shortly after. It was the latter who took the lead early on after Amigo Volo also started fast but gave up the lead.
The pace was high throughout the race and the first half of the distance was jogged after 1.07.6. Amigo Volo waited for his moment on the leader’s back and the gap came perfectly in the last corner as the Neck Back galloped. Friend Volo connected the hilt inside the mutiny and went to an easy victory. The second was The Ideal of the third inside pair and the third was Third Shift, which raced quickly after a late gap. Åke Svanstedt himself led Gangster Hanover, who, however, was defeated early.
But Svanstedt did not run out of much as he saw two of his horses take second and third place. But the best was Amigo Hall, who despite being in the initial race won easily at the end. The winning time was 1.09.0 / 1609th and the coach is Richard “Nifty” Norman. This was the horse’s 12th victory in the 24 starts of his career and it has racked up nearly $ 1.2 million.
Ready For Moni, the Hambletonian runner-up coached by Nancy Takter, had a head start when he crashed before the starting car left the field.
Swedish second and third in the department of mares
In the Kentucky Futurity mare department, Hypnotic Am and Sorella fought side by side for the longest time. Hypnotic Am slammed open from washer ten behind the car, at the far end of the wing, and took the lead, but then released Sorella. The first quarter was knocked down after a quick 1.07.1. When Sorella took the lead, at the same time big favorite Ramona Hill galloped, competing barefoot behind for the first time. Within the race, Hypnotic Am had a chance and dueled with Sorella to open the door. Then Love A Good Story came running and arrived just before the finish line. The horse is trained by Julie Miller and ridden by Andy Miller. Hypnotic Am, trained by Marcus Melander, made a cruel effort as second and also overrated against Sorella, trained by Nancy Takter, who came in third. The victory time was written in 1.09.2 / 1609a.
Atlanta impressed again
At Allerage Farms, Atlanta impressed when it beat the older elite. She took the lead along with Yannick Gingras, but released Gimpanzee, who was driven off offensively and took the lead at the end of the first corner. Atlanta made a perfect trip there and slid forward around the outside of the Gimpanzee at the final turn. Stjärnstoet assumed command at the beginning of the riots and was responsible for a brilliant performance. The victory time was 1.08.4 / 1609a for the horse trained by Ron Burke. Gimpanzee stunned the last bit and finished sixth at the finish.
