– Hooray, so good that we finally found out. All the signs have hinted at this, but it’s nice to get a proper message.

She emphasizes that the message means a lot to society. Between 2021 and 2025, the regiment will be reestablished.

– We think it means a lot and we hope to move to those who work in the regiment, which provides a base for commercial service. We’ve had a population decline for a few years that we hope to reverse, says Sara Lundberg.

The news that the Västernorrland regiment will be reestablished with regiments in Sollefteå and training detachments in Östersund is also welcomed by local politicians.

– Today we have taken a big step towards the restoration of Sollefteå. It is very gratifying for Sollefteå and for the whole of Västernorrland and shows what a great offer we have, says Johan Andersson (C), Chairman of the Municipal Board.

The municipality will now gather business organizations to discuss how to support the Armed Forces in future work.
