MALMÖ. FC Rosengård came on top with Kristianstad to rebound after two crosses.
Instead, they got rid of some lost gold and maybe, but only maybe, a slightly skewed image of themselves.
Caroline Seger had an extremely blank look when she was left alone in the replacement booth long after the final signal and all the questions from the reporters.
What went wrong? How did we end up here? Is the gold running now?
I’m speculating now, but any of these issues should have arisen in the FC Rosengård team captain’s skull, under the blanket, after the loss to Kristianstad.
After equally surprising crosses against first Umeå and then Linköping after the national team break, they waited for a reaction, a rebound in the fight against very strong and advanced Kopparbergs / Gothenburg.
Must lower your high tail guide
FC Rosengård is obviously not there at the moment.
The performance against Kristianstad was strong at times and in parts, of course.
And with an early goal against Linköping, that match had a completely different direction, I think so too.
But it’s time for the reigning champions to lower their tail now.
After 0-0 against Umeå, the explanation was that the national team break was tough for the main players of the team’s national team, that the training sessions were only two before, while the opponent was able to play together during the break.
After the 2-2 pickup against Linköping, Rosengård was unbalanced and cursed both the referees and the opponents.
– We are the team that wants to win. We are the ones who do it all the time and it is clear that I think it is difficult for Linköping, at home, that they may not even have that ambition, but that is probably our balance of power at the moment, Jonas Eidevall told us then.
Can understand frustration
How does it sound after another miscalculation?
That it is completely unreasonable for Kristianstad to score two goals. That it’s completely unreasonable to lose when the opponent wasn’t even in the penalty area in the first half and that guests have to buy tickets with that dividend.
I can understand the frustration in the team and in the leaders, and they have obviously left room for a high dose of self-criticism even after the last two weeks of failure. But this constant whining about opponents fighting savagely is going nowhere right now and it doesn’t feel as graceful when point drop is lined up.
FC Rosengård have a super tough away game against Vittsjö this weekend, then another hiatus from the national team awaits them. If we come to one of the main reasons why FC Rosengård have probably lost the gold now, it is precisely the European Championship qualifiers during this tough compressed crown season.
Better and more extensive team
The Malmö team has the best and widest squad, but also several supporting national team players in the Swedish and Danish national teams and they were really exhausted after the last meeting. When it comes down to it, Jonas Eidevall doesn’t want to hold anyone else accountable but himself.
– It is not Peter Gerhardsson who makes us not play football well. This is Jonas Eidevall. Peter Gerhardsson won’t solve this for me either, even though he is a very skilled coach. This I will have to solve. Obviously I have not managed to get the team ready to play these games.
FC Rosengård will give him a chance, to the bottom of the tile. But what does it matter when Gothenburg has long been tired of second place?
After today’s results, they have four points down and can afford to lose a match against (in order) Örebro, Växjö, Linköping and Vittsjö. I see the risk of gold rush on the west coast at the very least now.
