ZAGREB / STOCKHOLM. Sweden drew against Croatia and went for the win.

But it was another defeat in the Nations League after a Swedish defensive failure by Pontus Jansson.

– Bad defensive game, I take it one hundred percent, he says.

There were three important points at stake in the Nations League meeting with Croatia. Both teams had two defeats in a row before the match and needed the victory to avoid risking exiting division A.

Sweden, however, had a heavy first half when rain fell on the Maksimir Stadium.

Nikola Vlasic gave the home side the lead in the 31st minute with a superb shot from the right.

– Sweden are too much in their own penalty area to ignore that goal, says C More expert Kim Källström.

Berg recognized

Sweden played very well in the second half and looked for a draw. Five minutes into the game, the referee signaled that Dejan Kulusevski was going to make a substitution.

Instead, the receipt arrived a quarter of an hour later. Janne Andersson replaced Alexander Isak with Viktor Claesson in the 65th minute. The midfielder was also involved in goal preparation before the ball went to Mikael Lustig on the edge and Emil Forsberg in the penalty area. The star then played very well with a completely clean Marcus Berg who was able to put it 1-1.

Sweden went ahead, but in the 84th minute the cold shower came. Pontus Jansson misjudged a long pass and Ivan Peresic was able to follow up with Adrej Kramaric, who nearly scored an open goal. Victor Lindelöf appeared just in time near the post and led him past the goalkeeper.

– It is a heavy blow for Sweden and Pontus Jansson, who will be completely wrong. You should never drop your striker inside. You just have to remove the ball, it’s too easy, says Kim Källström.

“Ponne is broken”

Jansson himself took the ruling.

– We deserve a better, bad defensive play, I take it one hundred percent. I’ll do better and usually do too. Surt.

Emil Forsberg was disappointed after the game, but took Jansson on defense.

– “Ponne” is broken but it’s football, that’s what happens. It’s a shitty goal, but we win and lose together. We as a team perhaps should have made it 2-1 earlier, he tells C More and then continues at the press conference:

– We will take the second half. Once we dare and carry the ball with us and we can put ourselves in good positions, which we did in others, we are fine. The first half is bad, naive, we don’t pressure them to play around our penalty area. So we come to that.
