Seven Stockholm restaurants received comments last Saturday.
At the same time, people were dancing inches apart in the nightclubs around Stureplan.
“If it happens that the rules are not followed, of course it is serious,” writes the Minister of Social Affairs Lena Hallengren (S) in a text message to Aftonbladet.
Keep your distance: This is the call that has been the mantra of the Public Health Agency and politicians for months. Restaurants and bars have been kept open, with conditions for food and drink to be served and consumed at the tables. Visitors must be able to stay at least one meter from other groups, according to the recommendations of the Swedish Public Health Agency.
Several nightclubs around Stureplan in Stockholm reopened this weekend. Various photos and movies Aftonbladet has seen show guests dancing wildly close to each other, some with glasses in hand, including at Spy Bar and The Wall, which is run by Stureplansgruppen.
“The facilities have been adapted and furnished so that guests can keep a safe distance from each other from an infection control point of view and we have just sat down to serve,” writes press manager Linda Nordlund in an email to Aftonbladet.
The Stureplan group does not respond if it believes it has adhered to its routines and the requirement of a safe distance between guests.
“We are confident that our organization and individual companies have adapted and are doing their best based on the current situation,” he writes.
“You must not get up and drink”
19 inspections were carried out in Stockholm on Saturday. 7 of them received comments. Kristine Fornander, Unit Manager for Stockholm City Environmental Administration, says none of the current clubs around Stureplan were checked.
– We inspect companies based on complaints we receive or where we have previously commented and then visit again to follow up. We will also visit these clubs. At the same time, clubs must have the opportunity to find their systems and routines, he says.
The Stockholm City Environmental Administration is responsible for the supervision of restaurants in accordance with the Act on Temporary Infection Control Measures in Restaurants. During the spring and summer, several restaurants have received notices that in some cases led to a temporary closure.
– The most common defect is that it is too close between the parties, that a guest, for example, pulls out his chair and then ends up too close to the back table.
Are the guests then allowed to stand together?
– They can dance, if they keep their distance. Food and drinks will be served at the table. You must not get up and drink. It is the responsibility of the clubs to ensure that guests can dance and sit at a safe distance. Our mission is to follow up, says Kristine Fornander.
Minister of Social Affairs: “Seriously”
The Minister of Social Affairs, Lena Hallengren (S), believes that the same rules apply to bars and clubs as they do to restaurants.
“Table service only. It must be sparse between the tables and the opportunity to maintain an adequate distance. If it is the case that the rules are not followed, of course it is serious. Here, the municipality has a supervisory responsibility and can temporarily shut down activities that do not follow the rules, “he writes in a text message to Aftonbladet.
