On Saturday, North Korea celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Labor Party with pomp and circumstance in the capital, Pyongyang.
But the parade had so much to do with delivering a threatening message to the outside world.
The main attraction was a giant missile that was transported in a military vehicle with 22 tires.
Expert: “The largest transportable missile in the world”
The weapon has yet to be tested, but its size means that multiple warheads could be mounted on the missile, CNN reports.
“The largest liquid-fuel-powered * transportable * missile anywhere, to put it bluntly,” tweets Ankit Panda, a senior expert on nuclear weapons policy at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

Melissa Hanham, a Stanford University nuclear weapons expert, is also surprised by the missile’s size.
“Huge liquid fuel capable of carrying MIRV nuclear warheads,” he tweets.

MIRV means that multiple warheads can be mounted on the missile and they can be aimed at different targets.
The predecessor missile was considered capable of reaching most of the United States.
The new weapon appears to be the successor to North Korea’s previous missile, the Hwasong-15, which was tested in late 2017, but is much larger and more powerful, according to an expert with whom CNN has been in contact.
When the Hwasong-15 was tested, Pyongyang announced that it was capable of carrying “super heavy nuclear warheads” and, according to observers, it was believed that the missile could reach most of the interior of the United States.
