How could so many buy the story of listless children? In the book “Apathetic children and society as treason” (Mondial), journalist Ola Sandstig shows how the immigration debate from the 90s laid the foundations for this.
Journalists carried out campaign journalism in polemics against the then Swedish Immigration Service, and individual journalists who examined the asylum seekers’ stories were severely beaten by colleagues and establishments. Therefore, few were inclined to question the diagnosis of abandonment syndrome when it began to be made.
That it was about parents forcing their children, as Ola Sandstig has shown, there were some who warned from the beginning, but it did not help when the drama of the story was already clear in advance.
On today’s podcast, Ola Sandstig is interviewed about how this happened and why it changed. The questions are the responsibility of the leadership side Ivar Arpi.
