DN has previously spoken of the cooperation between the Swedish Public Employment Service and the many Nydalsparken associations in Tensta, several of which have now gone bankrupt. Over seven years, 21.2 million were paid in wage subsidies for the rehabilitation of some 60 unemployed with disabilities, including several prisoners.

Other social organizations have also entrusted associations with important tasks. The Swedish Prison and Probation Service and the City of Stockholm have placed people who have been sentenced to community service and youth service respectively in the facilities.

– In our case, it is between five and ten young people, says Ann-Sofie Larsson, responsible for youth services in the city of Stockholm.

The duties of convicts it was “getting ready for association meetings, cleaning on the playground and inside the hall.” However, since 2015 no new investments have been made. A visit to the workplace resulted in the termination of the agreement.

– I cannot say exactly why, but the workplace was not considered suitable, explains Ann-Sofie Larsson.

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service and its probation department continued to use the partnerships for community service until the end of 2018. The authority cannot indicate how many placements were made.

– There is confidentiality about that information, says press secretary Mikael Ringberger.
