At the end of March, most of the employees of truck manufacturer AB Volvo were laid off due to corona infection. The agreement meant that staff were laid off for 60 percent of their working hours, with a few exceptions.

In April, it became clear that the deal was extended, as the company feared an upcoming demand crisis. But according to information from SVT Nyheter Väst, all layoffs at the company will end today. An internal email confirms the information. He claims that the Volvo Group ends all layoffs at all companies.

Clear today

For several weeks AB Volvo shut down all production, but then part of production was resumed at the Skövde and Köping factories. Motors and gearboxes are manufactured there.

The information that AB Volvo is now ending all layoffs with immediate effect, or rather retroactively:

– We had requested redundancy support until August 31 and we will not make a new request, says press manager Claes Eliasson.

– People have been home to varying degrees. But the vast majority have been 100 percent in service for some time. We see that the level of activity has increased among our clients and then we deal with it with a higher level of activity ourselves, he says.
