DN has previously been able to say that the Halmstad Live concert hall has received just over $ 8 million in crisis state support and that the Swedish Arts Council has launched an investigation that may lead to claims for reimbursement.
Now comes the next blow for Halmstad Live. The Court of Appeal confirms the decision of the social welfare board to revoke the facility’s service license, writes Hallandsposten. Among other things, it is mentioned that Halmstad Live has sold alcohol on a large number of occasions and without permission at the Najaden culture house.
In addition, Halmstad Live has mismanaged its finances and, in addition to the debts in its tax account, it had two payment requests totaling SEK 395,000.
When DN examined the support that the Swedish Arts Council paid to organizers who were forced to cancel events due to the covid-19 pandemic, it turned out that Halmstad Live was the fourth largest recipient in the country.
DN review showed that the application that served as the basis for the support of Halmstad Live contained errors and exaggerations regarding the alleged loss of income of the company. However, the company representatives rejected that information.
“We have applied according to the guidelines that existed and we took note of all the information that was available,” the co-owner of Halmstad Live wrote to DN in September.
