The political pressure for more money for the Public Ministry is strong. The Finance Minister is willing to discuss the additions, despite the cold hand on the fall budget.
– I am absolutely open to discuss additional resources for prosecutors, there is no conflict in that, Magdalena Andersson tells TT.
She says the government will closely monitor developments. If the previous assessment is changed, that the Public Ministry has funds so that it can dispense with additional funds next year, then it is possible to remedy.
Extra budget
– This can be included in an additional amending budget or in relation to the amending budget in relation to the spring bill, says the Minister of Finance.
The opposition, but also the government coalition parties, the Center Party and the Liberals, have demanded more money from the Public Ministry since the fall budget. The moderates have stated that they intend to try to rally the opposition to demand another 50 million next year for authority.
– We need to meet now to make sure that the Public Ministry receives the money that the authority needs, says the economic-political spokesperson for the moderates, Elisabeth Svantesson, to Ekot.
When the agency’s executive director, prosecutor Petra Lundh, was on the justice committee the other day, she made it clear that she believes the $ 50 million the agency previously requested is really out of necessity.
Has big holes
“We have big holes and the workload is very, very high in some places,” said Petra Lundh.
He stressed that what he would like to see is information on supplements for several years. A message about a large premium in a single year is good, but less valuable than a message about stable long-term grants.
– So we know we are safe and can employ and train more prosecutors, says Petra Lundh.
Training a prosecutor requires at least three years of training, and even more so for him to face serious crimes, according to Lundh. However, the authority cannot train as many new prosecutors as it wants, as it is the experienced prosecutors who train the younger ones, and it will be an additional burden on them.
After the creation of the Justice Commission, the opposition agreed that more resources were needed for the Public Ministry.
