For the third consecutive night, one of the town’s cars was set on fire in Ljusdal. That means a total of 19 cars burned in the same area since May.
Now authorities are increasing resources to stop the fires, reports Swedish radio Gävleborg.
– It’s incredibly sad and disturbing. Now we must gather forces in the different cases. Cooperation with the police has expanded since May to the point that we are now heard almost daily, says the municipal security chief Josefin Jarlheden to SR.
Several city employees report a very anxious mood among staff after the fact.
– Yes, you get very angry. And feel discomfort. It is the users who are exposed when they go to the care staff, one of them tells Helahälsingland.
The police classify the incidents as serious fire damage and will increase the presence in the central parts of Ljusdal. According to the police press spokesman, Mikael Hedström, he is taking what happened seriously.
– We want to stop this. It is terrible behavior to destroy vehicles that will be used for the benefit of citizens, she tells Helahälsingland.
