The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is expected to introduce new guidelines, meaning that a corona vaccine can only be used in the US by the end of November.
The guidelines state that pharmaceutical companies developing coronavirus vaccines must submit data from clinical trials that go back two months in time.
The information comes from documents that the FDA has sent to various vaccine manufacturers.
US President Donald Trump has previously answered “maybe or maybe no” to the question of whether it will be the FDA’s regulatory framework for vaccine approval that will apply.
If the new FDA guidelines are applied now, it means that a new vaccine will not be able to be introduced before the November 3 US presidential election, something that likely would have benefited Donald Trump.
