Many employees are sick, quarantined, or fear being affected by the virus.

At the same time, the president, medicated and supervised by doctors, works from the map room and tweets to friends and foes.
Donald Trump’s return to the White House last night, Swedish time, could have come from a patriotic Hollywood movie. The president got out of the helicopter, climbed the stairs to Truman’s balcony, removed his mouth guard, and paid tribute to the flag. He then shot a short video with the southern lawn as a backdrop and recounted how well he is doing.
However, the scenes inside the White House that appear in the media are more dystopian in nature. Journalists stationed in the building describe the west wing, where the president has his office and his staff in the presidential office, as a ghost town. Several employees have tested positive for the virus, others are in quarantine awaiting their own message and many of those who still go to work are afraid of being infected.
There is still a crowd of around a hundred people, mostly caregivers, cleaners and caretakers, who are often older and belong to risk groups, writes The Guardian.

I found myself infected without knowing it
Staff employees have said they have discovered the positive test results of their colleagues through media reports and several have had contact, without knowledge, with people that management already knew were contagious, the newspaper writes. It wasn’t until Sunday that the White House sent a message to all employees that employees with symptoms would not come to work.
Many staff members are said to be frightened by the lack of information, and as chief of silence, Trump’s chief of staff Mark Meadows was singled out. He has previously been criticized for not taking the corona virus seriously and for ignoring guidelines such as physical distance and oral protection, something that government experts have urged the rest of the population to observe.
In addition, several bodyguards of the Secret Service force, who work to protect the president and his family, have collapsed anonymously so as not to be forced to contract the virus. Donald Trump’s car trip to greet supporters outside Walter Reed Hospital in particular has angered them.
Several high-profile people close to Trump have already been infected with the virus. They include advisor Hope Hicks, campaign manager Bill Stepien, press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and personal assistant Nick Luna. Additionally, several Republican senators and former advisers such as Kellyanne Conway and Chris Christie have been affected by COVID-19.
Late the night before, it emerged that even the president’s close adviser, Stephen Miller, who has already worked from home for five days, has tested positive for the virus and is now in quarantine.
Major generals in quarantine
The latest blow to personnel is the outbreak that hit the Pentagon after Charles Ray, deputy commander of the US Coast Guard, tested positive for the virus. He has attended meetings with virtually all of the president’s top generals in the JCS (Joint Chiefs of Staff).
This means that, among others, Air Force Commander Charles Brown, Navy Chief Michael Gilday, US Space Force Commander John Raymond and Donald Trump’s top military adviser Mark Milley all work from home, he says. This creates more headaches when the White House does everything it can to make everything appear to be running normally, despite the president’s illness and previous treatment at Walter Reed Hospital.
At the same time, Donald Trump continues his recovery in the White House. According to The Guardian, he does not work as usual from the Oval Room but from the so-called ground floor map room, which got his name when it was used during World War II to follow battles on drawn maps.

He is supervised by a team of doctors and received his last dose of remdesivir upon his return. It has not yet been reported whether treatment with the strong steroid dexamethasone and other drugs continued on Tuesday. However, his personal physician, Sean Conley, has stated in a brief statement that the president had “a night’s rest” and should be more or less free of symptoms. But the doctor has previously said that he is not without danger yet.
According to the New York Times, the president has opened up to give a televised address to the nation, a more formal speech than the videos he tweeted outside of the hospital and after returning to the White House. But there must still have been something breathless in the conversation, which may have temporarily halted the plans.
No matter how he feels, Trump has had no trouble tweeting. And really. Eleven hours after the return video, the first post arrived this morning local time. “Wow” started and was about how liberal Joe Biden is on the abortion issue. He then wrote a post that was removed by Twitter for being misleading regarding covid-19. Then, after a three-hour break, he first wrote “FEELING GOOD” and then that he awaits the debate against Joe Biden on October 15.
He then mocked “Mini Mike Bloomberg,” attacked Fake News Media, thought the NBC television channel was too nice to Biden in an audience with voters, and wrote partly in capital letters that the economy is about to rebound with the stock market that is at record levels. He concluded by accusing Nancy Pelosi of wanting to use a new crown support package to fund “mismanaged and criminally charged states where the Democrats are in power” and announced that he would suspend negotiations between the parties on a new support package until after the elections. This caused the stock market to fall sharply before closing.
