It was when Mette Frederiksen, S, delivered the traditional speech in relation to the opening of the Folketing that he raised the issue of crime, especially in so-called “vulnerable areas”.

– The way we run our lives is basically our own responsibility, he said in his speech.

– Without generalizing or cutting everyone off, we must stick to the facts, to the raw statistics. One in five young people of non-Western origin who were born in 1997 had violated the penal code before reaching the age of 21. Every fifth.

Young men convicted

The Prime Minister condemned young people who “steal the freedom of others” and leave “a long trail of insecurity”.

– No one should be afraid to go out on the streets in Denmark. She is not allowed to take our freedom.

It focused in particular on the treatment of girls in vulnerable housing areas.

– This has been going on for too many years. Girls who are called derogatory things just because they are Danish. Or girls who are subject to social control because they have become too Danish.

Mette Frederiksen said that behavior and mindset should not be accepted. In some areas, 1 percent of residents account for 50 percent of crime.

Immediate punishment

A new law will now give the police the right to prohibit people from staying in a special place for a limited time.

“It could be in a parking lot in the residential area or in a commuter train station where these children and young people gather and create insecurity,” he said in his speech.

Those who do not follow the ban will be punished immediately.

– The first time a fine of 10,000 SEK. If you have a debt with the public sector, there will be a cash settlement. So the police should be able to take away expensive jackets, watches and mobile phones immediately.

– The second time we talked about 30 days in prison. We give more force to the police. At the same time, we give rioters and their parents a message that cannot be misunderstood.
