– I am very honored by the support I have received from my European colleagues, says Andersson at a press conference on the nomination.

It has been nominated by the EU finance ministers.

– If I am elected this will put Sweden on the map, the last European to have this assignment was Gordon Brown in 2007 (British Finance Minister), says Andersson.

She also believes that it will be easier to get a hearing on your policy when you are acting as Swedish Finance Minister, that is, when you are not on the committee.

In December it will be decided if she will receive the position, but she will continue as finance minister because it is a prerequisite to be able to have it. The task involves chairing the two meetings that are held each year at the IMFC, along with the IMF meetings in Washington.

– I have quite a substantial working capacity, says the Finance Minister about the ability to keep up.

Currently The governor of the South African central bank is in office.

The IMFC is made up of finance ministers or central bank governors representing the 189 member countries of the Monetary Fund.
