State epidemiologist Anders Tegnell responded yesterday to a question about Donald Trump’s proposal.
The president wrote that “one should not be afraid of the covid.”
– A lot of data and information say that this is not a disease to play with, says Tegnell.
The president of the United States, Donald Trump, was discharged yesterday from Walter Reed Hospital. He spent a few days there after falling ill with covid-19.
When he got out of the hospital, he said he felt better than ever.
He also wrote that covid-19 should not be feared.

“You can get very sick”
Today, state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell briefly commented on the US president’s proposal.
– A lot of data and information say that this is not a disease to play with, even if the risk is lower at a younger age, there are examples where you can get seriously ill, says Tegnell.
The state epidemiologist hopes that the declaration will not lead to further spread of the infection in the long term.
– I hope that people looking for information will look in various places and see that it is a serious disease, he says.
“An autumn in which we have to live differently”
Anders Tegnell also commented on whether in the future it may be relevant with new bans and restrictions focused on where the infection spreads. For example, at sports teams and student parties.
– We have a dialogue with the Swedish Sports Confederation and we are analyzing a study together with Finland on what causes hockey in particular. Maybe if you can avoid congestion in the changing rooms, because it is not on the ice that the infection spreads.
– Student parties have a lot to do with information and understanding among students that this is a fall in which we have to live differently.
