Linköping put in plenty of defensive play in the first period and Stephanie Neatby impressed between the posts.
After the first period, the score was 0-0, but a couple of minutes after the second, the home team took the lead. Carly Bullock found Matilda af Bjur with a good pass from the right and the lead was a given.
A couple of minutes later, the lead was extended. Bullock first missed a free throw, but kept the puck and played with forward team captain Madelen Haug Hansen, who thundered at 2-0.
With just over three minutes to go, 18-year-old Linnea Johansson punctured the game with her 3-0 goal. The goal was the third of the season’s talent.
– We were not at all happy with our last matches, but we had a good meeting where we talked about what to do. There were definitely things that could be improved, but this was a step in the right direction. It’s good to take three points again, Johansson tells Corren.
With the victory, Linköping moves to HV71 and ascends as a new table three, but is a long way from the top duo consisting of Brynäs and Luleå. Djurgården is five years old.
