It was in November of last year that the police found a man seriously injured on a bloody staircase.

Neighbors of the apartment building in the Väster district in Örebro had been awakened by screaming. They then turned out to come from the severely stabbed man, whose life could not be saved.

Suspicions quickly turned to his partner, Lena Blomqvist, 51. The man had initiated a no-contact case against him shortly before his death, and the police investigation makes it clear that the relationship contained elements of violence.

Lena Blomqvist herself claimed self-defense. In a declaration of love written in a letter, she said that for the most part they were fine together and that she did not even think about killing her.

High risk of threats and violence

But the court did not share his photo. In June, Lena Blomqvist was sentenced to 14 years in prison for murder, assault, stalking, sexual harassment, violence against an official and attempted violence against an official.

According to documents from the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, the risk of her using threats and violence in prison is considered high. So is the risk of her committing “another serious offense or crime.”

She is placed in the Hinseberg Women’s Prison, which together with the Ystad institution is the only women’s prison with security class 2.
