Attempted murder in Järntorget: knife wounds after a fight

One person is said to have been stabbed in Järntorget in central Gothenburg and taken to hospital with a torso injury. According to witnesses, the stabbing occurred after a fight between people.

– Everything indicates that he was subjected to knife violence, says Stefan Gustafsson, police press spokesman.

The perpetrator has fled the scene, possibly on a tram in the direction of Linnaeus Square, the police write on their website.

Police helicopters and patrols are searching for the perpetrator who is believed to be alone and injured.

The crime scene around Järntorget is not cordoned off, but as a result the police have stopped some public transport.

A complaint has been made with the criminal classification of attempted homicide or involuntary manslaughter. Three people have been brought in for questioning.

Just before 6pm, Västtrafik announces that public transport around Järntorget will return without delays or stops.

Around 7 pm, the police announce that they have so far failed to arrest any alleged perpetrator.

– Some activity is taking place to gather information from witnesses, says Stefan Gustafsson.
