Manchester United faced Tottenham at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday, but without Swedish national defender Victor Nilsson Lindelöf in the starting eleven for the first time this season in the league game. Instead, Nilsson Lindelöf had to start the match on the bench, at the same time as United started sweaty.
Although Bruno Fernandes gave United the lead from the penalty spot in the second minute, Tottenham turned the game around.
First, Tanguy Ndombele tied, in the fourth minute, at 1-1 and then Heung Min Son made it 2-1 in the seventh minute. A little later United came close to equalizing, when Marcus Rashford came out in good position but fired off the post.
Then it was hot between Anthony Martial and Eric Lamela. First Lamela beat the French and then the French beat the Argentine. As a result, Martial received a red card and was sent off in the 28th minute, while Lamela was able to continue playing. Soon after, Harry Kane also extended to 3-1 and then Son made it 4-1 at halftime.
Tottenham then controlled the match and also extended in the 51st minute to 5-1 through Serge Aurier. At the end of the match, Tottenham also received a penalty and then Kane cooled to 6-1, which was also the final result of the match.
Tottenham now have seven points after four league games played, while United has three points after three games played this season in the Premier League.
– What a day for us. We were really in the lead, in the lead and in the warm-up. We let in after a minute, but the way we got back shows that we were focused. Even after being sent off, we had to be ruthless, Harry Kane tells the BBC after the match.
