The tip-top HV71 is off to a completely different start to the SHL season. In the first four games, there was a defeat in all of them, and before the home match with Smålands rival Oskarshamn, the pressure on HV71 was great.
But it started badly. After a while, it was 0-2 on the scoreboard, after goals from Markus Modigs and Kim Rosdahl.
– An extremely unfair result. I think we are in the middle of the period, but it bounces a bit against it, says HV71’s Linus Fröberg on C More.
Early in the second period, new acquisition Fredrik Forsberg shot 1-2 for HV71 on powerplay, but shortly after Markus Modigs scored his second goal of the night when he found a gap over Jonas Gunnarsson.
Two fast HV targets
Steep uphill then for HV71. But the home team would catch up before the break.
First, Linus Fröberg ran free with the goalkeeper and made it 2-3, with 1.30 of time left. And just a minute later it was also 3-3 when Fredrik Forsberg, like Modigs, scored the second goal of the day with a quick shot.
In the stands at Husqvarna Garden, his brother Filip Forsberg celebrated, every day in the NHL and Nashville Predators.
“It’s not very often that he gets to watch our games, so it’s a lot of fun that he’s here,” Fredrik Forsberg tells C More.
4-3 outnumbered
In the third period, HV71 took the lead for the first time in the match. In numerical mode, Filip Sandberg fixed a free position, and made the best of it by making it 4-3.
With just under ten minutes to go, Eric Martinsson made it 5-3, just as Oskarshamn was filling up after sending off.
Simon Önerud then put 6-3 in the open area and the first victory, and the first point, for the HV71 season is in port.
– It’s strong to turn the game around, damn it. Of course it has been very hard. We are all winners and it is hard for us to lose. This is a victory, but many remain, says team captain Önerud to C More.
