Frölunda managed to win thanks to four chains

The nation’s sharpest hockey chain plays at Leksands IF. Before the trip to Gothenburg, Carter Camper, Marek Hrivik and Peter Cehlarik had added 20 points in three games played in the SHL.

Camper and Cehlarik had three goals each on the tally … and the only one who had no goals was Hrivik.

But that would change in Scandinavium.

He scored two goals in numerical superiority, and after the second, Leksand really had the advantage at 2-1.

But Frölunda’s attacking game still seems mobile and imaginative, and the team doesn’t just have a production line.

By the end of the match, four chains had delivered goals for Frölunda, and both Filip Johansson (of Leksand) and Robin Alvarez (Skellefteå) scored their first goals with an Indian on the chest.

– What do you say? Family is the worst, huh? I’ve had exactly those situations in the first two games. I follow him, I have the opportunity in the castle. But I also want to be able to put them there. “I shot in the middle of the goalkeeper both times so I was a bit frustrated,” admits new defender Filip Johansson.

He went out to Frölundaborg and started rehearsing.

And when the opportunity came in the match, yes … then the puck was on the cross behind his old teammate Janne Juvonen in Leksand’s goal.

– It was also a bit fluent, but I have trained myself on that. It certainly looked good, but damn if it was aiming there. It was time to put it on. And he knew the doorman inside and out, laughs Johansson.

That goal was 3-2.

Prior to that, Nicklas Lasu had listed on the disc 2-2 outnumbered. The receipt was approved after a lengthy video review, when a kicking motion was suspected.

– The puck was not given any force on a directed kick, explains referee Morgan Johansson after the match – and approved the goal.

And Nicklas Lasu laughed afterward.

– It is not a saving movement. I have the skate on the ice, if that means anything. I have the ability to make these goals. It is not a conscious heel in any case. I’m just trying to take the record with the skate. Of course it is pure luck, but at the same time I like to take them. The first goal for this year may be to look exactly how you want. It also counts, says the scorer.

In the third half, Robin Álvarez put the final score at 4-2, and thus four chains had produced goals.

– It’s good. That is what we believe in. We need as many formations as possible during a long series, and especially in a tiebreaker where there will be some matching team against team. It’s a lot of fun that we have four chains, says coach Roger Rönnberg.

He was also able to see Slovenian Jan Muršak assist in a goal for the fourth straight game, as well as team captain Joel Lundqvist found the net for the second straight game.

– The chain feels good. The work is good, and we also create more situations than during the preseason. We play more situations and we feel good. We are building on that, says Joel Lundqvist.

Does the whole team seem mobile in attack?

– Yes I agree. Looks good. But there is little lack of discipline. We have to make that happen, says Lundqvist.

Frölunda actually received seven two-minute suspensions, four of which were in the attacking zone.

– It’s not that good. It should cost us a bit more in this match, but boxplay does it well, says coach Roger Rönnberg.
