Archie the bird dog was left in the Norrbotten Mountains by his Italian owner. After more than two weeks and an intensive search by many volunteers, the dog was finally found in the Ritsem area and captured, writes Norrbottens-Kuriren.
Several days had passed without observations when Archie on Saturday morning was trapped in the cage that was on display and full of food.
– He was very hungry, says Johanna Granström Sundgren, one of those who was involved all day to grab the dog.
He was an Italian hunter who left Archie after an illness forced him to return home. Since then, the covid-19 infection has prevented him from returning to Sweden.
Most indications are that Archie will be able to stay in Norrbotten.
– The dog is on his way to the vet now. He then goes to an emergency home, to finally be delivered to a good new home. That’s what the dog owner wants, says Barbara Lindell, who helped catch the dog, to SVT Norrbotten.
