Donald Trump does what all leaders usually do when they get sick. They try to tone down the seriousness.
Still, there are signs that the president may be sicker than the White House wants to admit.
The fact that Trump has been transported to the hospital may, of course, be just a precaution, as the White House claims. But it can also be an indication that the president is worse off than you want to get out.
Trump doesn’t want to be weak with just one month to go on Election Day. Especially when he mocked challenger Joe Biden for being fragile and constantly wearing a face mask.
From the beginning, Trump said he would continue working as usual from the White House. Now that you are in the hospital, it is unlikely that you will be able to fulfill all your usual duties.
A health bulletin announces that the president has a fever, coughs and is tired and is also being treated with an antiviral agent. It doesn’t seem like a mild symptom or like you’re sitting at a desk and working as usual.
Formally, Trump is still the one who rules the country, but the question is how much is he capable of doing.
The main sign that the president is not close to his usual self is that his Twitter account has gone almost completely silent. As I write this Saturday morning, I count two tweets since he announced the day before that he and his wife Melania were infected.
A day when Trump is totally silent on Twitter and doesn’t even retweet the things he likes is extremely unusual. Especially in the middle of an election campaign.

Dark health conditions
One of his two tweets says briefly: Everything is fine I think. Thank you all. Love!
The other is a short 18-second video in which Trump, in an attempt to calm troubled citizens, stands up, dressed in a suit, pale around the nose but trying to look as alert and intact as possible. He’s obviously not on a respirator. But other than that, it is impossible to know how bad it is.
The Trump administration may have a number of reasons for hiding the president’s health. It doesn’t have to be just about the presidential election. The United States is the world’s superpower. There may be enemies, like Russia and China, who want to take advantage of the fact that the US regime is unstable. Since Ronald Reagan was shot, a president has not suffered a life-threatening illness.
Trump may temporarily cede power to Vice President Mike Pence if he feels so bad that he cannot rule the country. But that, of course, would raise big questions about his health. This is something the White House wants to avoid in the long run.
The 25th Amendment to the United States Constitution also gives the Trump administration the opportunity to allow the vice president to take power against the will of the president by declaring him incapable of carrying out his duties. This would also be an extreme measure that will only be applied in emergencies.
Trump is said to be spending the next few days in the hospital. The problem is, it can take more than ten days before doctors know how sick Trump gets.
A common course of Covid-19 is that the symptoms are mild at first, but the condition can deteriorate rapidly after 10 to 14 days.

The Trump administration may have several reasons for hiding the president’s health, writes Wolfgang Hansson.
Intensive care
Boris Johnson, the UK prime minister who before he fell ill had the same careless attitude towards the corona virus as Donald Trump, was mildly affected at first and continued to work from the prime minister’s residence. But after just over a week, he quickly got worse and was rushed to the hospital where he received oxygen and intensive care.
Johnson’s own description is that he was very close to death and that it was the medical personnel guarding his bed that saved his life.
So even if Trump is feeling pretty good right now, it’s definitely too early to shout danger. It can get worse quickly over the next two weeks.
The president has already suspended all campaign activities in the coming weeks. The second debate against Joe Biden on October 15 is in jeopardy. No decision has yet been made on whether to cancel or postpone it. The evolution of Trump’s health in the coming days is likely to be decisive.
But even if Trump recovered without becoming seriously ill, there are questions about how quickly he can get back into the election campaign. Extreme fatigue affects many COVID-19 patients even when the virus is gone. It is not a fact that the president can return to the campaign as soon as he has recovered.
It cost the victory
Far from everyone trusts that the White House is telling the truth about Trump’s health. Today’s New York Times editorial has the headline “The nation needs to know the truth about President Trump’s illness.”
– The upcoming elections may strengthen Trump’s instinct to hide or distort the truth, the newspaper writes. The experience so far is worrying.
I don’t believe much in the theory that Trump would have pretended to be infected.
The fact that he now appears to have been partially eliminated is, after all, the greatest threat of all to his chances of winning the presidential election.
