There are stops in both directions on the red metro line at T-central after a train derailed. According to SL, it is unclear when the traffic will start again.

– We are piloting the people who were traveling on the train in question, says Aleksander Krajisnik, in the press office of SL.

A train on the Stockholm red line metro has derailed. There are stops between Slussen and Stadion and Karlaplan in both directions for the red lines 13 and 14 of the metro, SL writes on its website.

– Technically, it’s a derailment. There are some wheels that have jumped off the rails. We have on-site staff looking at it, says Aleksander Krajisnik, in the SL press office.

There were people on the train in question, but according to the press service, no one was injured.

– Actually, it was at the T-central where the derailment took place, the train has gone a bit into the tunnel. We have people on site who are piloted by people, we will soon be ready and everything is calm, says Aleksander Krajisnik.

“The whole carriage went into a panic”

A passenger who was on board the derailed train describes the situation as “in a panic.”

– You noticed something was wrong. The sounds from outside grew louder and louder, and suddenly the carriage stopped in the middle of the tunnel. The whole car panicked because they didn’t know what had happened, the witness says.

After a period of stagnation in the tunnel, the carriage managed to get onto the platform of the subway station. But new problems arose when the doors could not be opened.

– We tried to open the doors, but they are stuck. In a few seconds we see a small formation of smoke and then we really panic. In the end, I manage to open half the door and get out first, says the witness who cuts himself after the incident.

– Should I be afraid to take the subway with old trains? I need an answer, she says.

Without foresight

As of yet, there is no forecast of when the traffic could be running again. Delays and canceled departures are expected. SL primarily refers to alternative travel routes.

– But the green line still works and you can go from Slussen to the T-central through it. We have also installed replacement buses and drive as many as we can.

– We understand that it is cumbersome for our travelers. It is very unfortunate, of course, says Aleksander Krajisnik.
