The number of new cases per day this week has been significantly higher than last week.
On Friday, 77 new cases were reported and an average of about 55 people are now infected each day in Skåne.
A total of 6,043 cases have been identified in the region since the outbreak of the pandemic.
77 new corona cases were found during Friday and the region has seen a marked increase in the number of new cases during the week. On Monday, the average number of new cases was 42 per day on an average of the last seven days, but on Thursday it rose to 55. Only one case was reported on Monday, but 87 on Tuesday.
At the same time that the number of infected increases, the figure is around the number of people with Covid-19 who are treated in hospitals, around a total of ten people in the region.
– The fact that we still have relatively few covid-19 patients in the hospital shows that it is mainly people of younger ages who are infected and that we have still managed relatively well to keep the infection away from the elderly and frail.
The average age of new cases in recent weeks has been around 41 years.
Depending on the region, the number that receives positive test results for covid-19 is still a maximum of two percent.
“Understand that it is frustrating”
Infection control doctor Eva Melander again emphasizes the importance of following the advice and recommendations that exist.
– It is important that we stick to the measures that we know work: keep your distance and stay home if you are sick. I understand that it can be exhausting not being able to live exactly like we did before, but we still make small sacrifices and we have seen the measures in Skåne have had a good impact, says Eva Melander.
