Protests outside the court in London.
A British judge says the decision to extradite Julian Assange to the United States will be announced in early January.
For four weeks, court hearings have been held in London on a possible extradition of Wikileaks founder Assange. They ended on Thursday, but a request from Assange’s lawyer to postpone his final statement has already been approved.
The lawyer claims that the US extradition request is politically motivated during the term of President Donald Trump and that conditions for Assange may change depending on the outcome of the November US elections.
The United States accuses Julian Assange of, among other things, hacking and spying on the large amount of classified material that Wikileaks has published. The organization revealed, among other things, how the US military has killed hundreds of civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq. In the United States, Assange could be sentenced to 175 years in prison.
