Kristin Kaspersen is a woman with a lot of iron on fire.

She has a new book in the works, the “Kristin Kaspersen Curious about” podcast, and will now also host Swedish Heroes.

– It is fun! An honorable assignment, I must say, says Kristin Kaspersen.

As the host and president of the Swedish Heroes Jury, Kristin Kaspersen has participated in many fantastic heroic feats. She is convinced that many of us have the opportunity to be heroes in our daily lives and to help other human beings.

– There is so much creativity and will and so many little heroes across the country. The pandemic has shown that we help each other and what it means. They don’t always have to be such big actions, but there are also small actions that mean a lot to others.

How has the crown affected you?

– In terms of work, I got rid of all my jobs for six months. And I’ve had a crown myself, but considering how others have been affected, I have mild symptoms even if they lasted a long time. What happened during the pandemic is terrible for all those who have been injured.

Kristin Kaspersen finally got to a point where she thought “I can’t influence the crown being here, I can’t do anything about it. But what can I do? “She used the time to write and photograph for her next book. She also started the” Kristin Kaspersen Curious about “podcast, something she has wanted to do for a long time.

– If I now have involuntary free time, I want to do what I can to improve my future and use my time in a good way.

Helping your neighbor

She has also used her time to care for her 98-year-old neighbor Kerstin, who belongs to a risk group. Kristin helps Kerstin shop sometimes and friendship gives her a lot.

– Kerstin is the coolest in the world. At one point he had bought her some things so she could be nice, and then she told me that every Friday it gets nice. She said, “I don’t have anyone to be nice to, but I do it every Friday.” There I stayed in my workout clothes and a bit asleep and thought “sharpen up, Kristin, get good for yourself,” says Kristin and laughs.

During the pandemic, loneliness has become a growing problem in society. Kristin and her family bought the cavapoo Minoo a little over two years ago. Kristin says that she doesn’t really like dogs and was afraid of them before. But today, Minoo is an obvious and important part of her life.

– The weeks that my son did not live with me but with his father, will be a lot of free time now that he is crown. And I don’t have a lot of family in Stockholm, most of them have spent time in Järvsö or Norway.

Even if Kristin isn’t really alone, she can feel lonely at times, something most of us can probably recognize ourselves as. Not least in these times.

– I do not know completely what it is to be alone, but I understand that you can feel alone. It is important to show that we care about each other and that we inspire you.

“I don’t fully know what it is to be alone, but I understand that you can feel lonely. It’s important to show that we care about each other, ”says Kristin Kaspersen.

Choose a better idea

Kristin consciously works to be constructive in her thoughts and tries not to let a bad experience get her down. One person who inspired her is Nelson Mandela, who said: “There is no situation that is so terrible that you cannot choose a thought that makes you feel a little better.”

– I don’t like ending up in a state where it bothers me. Then I try to find another thought that doesn’t bother me. Like today when I went with a taxi driver who stopped every ten meters. Either I get really mad at him or I can think he probably had a rough start to the day and is struggling.

She emphasizes that everyone can do it, but that it is also important to start with yourself and not compare yourself to others. She likes to start the day running herself, but that doesn’t mean that it suits everyone.

– For example, if you have experienced major depression, it can be a success to simply get out of bed and brush your teeth. You can be proud of that. However, one can be inspired by others.

That each person can do good and that small good deeds together can make a big difference is something Kristin Kaspersen returns to several times during the interview.

– Not everyone dares to make that enormous effort, but you can help in different ways. I tell my son “don’t get between two people fighting.” You can help in many other ways. Ask for help, scream, draw people, do what you can. If you find that you cannot fully handle it, seek help. So you are a link on the line helping someone else. And the little things can also save lives or help.

“Not everyone dares to go the extra mile, but you can help in different ways,” says Kristin, who takes inspiration from Nelson Mandela and his 98-year-old neighbor Kerstin.

Slight pain for the mother

Kristin lost her mother Barbro “Lill-Babs” Svensson in April 2018. But she still feels her mother’s presence.

– Mom was unique. She gave love to many people and that love I receive through others.

The pain is mild, says Kristin.

– I will never be able to get it back and my pain is just as great no matter if I lie down and cry on the floor or if I choose to live my life. And my mother would have gone crazy if I hadn’t been busy living my life!

He returns to Nelson Mandela’s reasoning on thoughts and states:

– I can’t walk thinking “why aren’t you here” and “I’d like to tell you this.” I choose to think “mom, now we are going on an adventure and now you can flirt here.” Because I can’t change what happened but I can change my way of thinking to feel better about it.
