– The investigation will be carried out now that the parties did not agree, says the leader of the Center party, Annie Lööf, and refers to the government and the cooperation parties, which as recently as last week presented a budget which indicates that the investigation will be carried out if the parties have not reached a new agreement.
– I hope that the Social Democrats and Stefan Löfven keep their promises.
The leader of the Liberal Party, Nyamko Sabuni, gives the same message:
– Employees and employers can’t wait any longer, so now we take political responsibility and make sure to modernize labor law with the help of legislation, he says.
Crashed last night
The last negotiations between LO, the Confederation of Swedish Companies and PTK, which organizes the wage earners, broke down last night. This means that the government’s investigation, which was released this summer, will instead form the basis for conditions in the labor market.
The investigation proposes, among other things, that employers can exempt five people from the priority rules in the event of dismissal. Today, a maximum of two people are applying, and then only for companies with a maximum of ten employees.
But the proposal has been controversial to say the least. The Left Party has said that it is willing to overthrow the government if it makes the proposed law of the investigation, as it believes it endangers job security. Party leader Jonas Sjöstedt says the party’s attitude on mistrust is firm.
– The responsibility for this lies with the government, which with unreasonable threats to drastically damage job security sided with the employers in the negotiations, says on Twitter.
Does not exclude more negotiation time
Annie Lööf says that the failed negotiations are a “failure for the Swedish labor market” and that she regrets that the parties did not agree, and says she does not rule out giving the parties more time to negotiate an agreement.
– If it is the case that the parties see an opportunity to agree, then it is clear that the Center Party will not close the door for them to agree, he says.
Nyamko Sabuni also does not close the door to new negotiations between the parties.
Löfven apologizes, opens longer
Prime Minister Stefan Löfven also opens up so that the parties have the opportunity to reach an agreement.
– It is positive if the parties resume their negotiations, there is nothing to stop it, he tells TT
