Parts of Sweden have electricity supply problems according to a new report. Stock Photography.
The electricity supply in much of Sweden is not working properly, shows a new investigation by the Energy Market Inspectorate, which has been read by Sveriges Radio Ekot.
Research shows that several cities in Sweden are in trouble and that even more cities are at risk.
– In the near future, there is a shortage of capacity, mainly in Uppsala and Stockholm, which makes it difficult to connect new customers in these areas. The problem is mainly due to the fact that the transmission network lines are not sufficient to cover the capacity needs that have arisen in Uppsala and Stockholm, Elon Axberg, an analyst with the authority, tells Ekot.
The lack of capacity can mean that, for example, new business investments do not materialize because they do not obtain enough electricity, according to the Energy Market Inspection.
Other places in the country that may have the same problem are Malmö and Västerås, as well as northern Sweden.
However, the report shows that the problems seem to disappear completely in ten years, as large investments are planned in the electricity grid.
