Amorella street has been closed by the Finnish authorities

The Finnish ferry Amorella began to take on water and then intentionally left on September 20.

Since then, the ship has been towed to a repair yard in Turku. There, the Finnish Accident Investigation Board is investigating the ship.

They have also investigated the street where Amorella was involved in the accident and have found a large object, so they have decided to extend the closure of the street. It was closed immediately after the accident and will therefore remain closed.

The object must not be the main cause, but may have contributed to the accident:

– It’s a big hard object that shouldn’t be there. What we do know is that it is not the root cause, but it may have been part of the process and now we will evaluate it, Veli-Pekka Nurmi tells Aftonbladet.

A full final report on the course of events is not expected until next summer. In just over two months, the Accident Investigation Board can give a first presentation of the course of events.
