M and KD split on reducing employer contribution for youth

Last week, the future leader of the Left Party party, Nooshi Dadgostar, said she wants to stop reducing employer contributions for young people. The reform is part of the government’s fall budget and one of the Center Party’s main negotiating victories. It is estimated to cost $ 9 billion in 2021 and $ 9 billion in 2022.

– There is money in the lake. The finance minister can’t even say he’s offering a single new job, Dadgostar said.

On the same day, the Swedish Democrats said they were also willing to stop the reduction.

But Christian Democrats and moderates have yet to notice.

KD wants, M doubts

According to sources from the parties, KD and M see the issue completely differently.

Christian Democrats believe that it is good to stop the reduction, regardless of whether it is possible to agree on where the money should go.

The moderates hesitate. It is true that the party has criticized the reduction of employer contributions and believes that it is an ineffective reform. But moderates don’t want to stop a tax cut if the money doesn’t go to other tax cuts, according to Expressen sources.

And the Left Party is not believed to agree.

– I find it very difficult to see that we are going to stop this, says a moderate located in the center.

Prompt notice

The four opposition parties, V, M, KD and SD, have previously stopped a similar reform, which was also led by the Center Party. That was in January, and then it was agreed to invest more money in municipalities and regions.

But both moderates and Christian Democrats now think it is doubtful that municipalities and regions need more money than the government budget.

Both parties will shortly present their budget motions and will likely make a statement regarding them.
