The two young men who were released from Råbyanstalten in Lund have been detained by the police.
– It is good that they have been arrested so that they can continue to serve their sentence, says Ola Karlsson Ruhmkorff from the Swedish National Board of Education, responsible for Råbyanstalten.
In August, two young men were released from Råbyanstalten.
The two men, aged 18 and 19, were arrested after a car chase in Örebro. Around 2 in the afternoon, a police patrol wanted to stop a motorist, whom the suspects had committed some kind of traffic violation.
– Then the motorist chooses not to stop at the police sign and we start the chase of this car, says Christina Hallin, press spokeswoman for the police in Bergslagen.
After a while the pursued motorist stops and a person jumps out of the car. The hunt continues for another time, in total lasting about ten minutes, before the police stop the car. In connection with this, there is a “minor collision” and both a police car and the car being pursued suffer damage to the metal sheets, but no person is injured.
– We can check the driver and it turns out that he is one of the young people who disappeared on the outskirts of Lund this summer, says Christina Hallin.
The person who jumped out of the car was also arrested by the police and turned out to be the other man who escaped from Råbyanstalten.
The driver is suspected of being intoxicated and negligent in traffic. The passenger is not suspected of any crime in connection with this incident. The driver will be questioned by the police, as will the passenger.
– Then they will be transferred to some type of housing to continue serving their sentences, says Christina Hallin.
In the National Board of Institutions, head of Råbyanstalten, it is announced that it is unclear whether the two men will return to Råby to serve their sentences.
– I do not know. We will have to decide on this at a later stage, says Ola Karlsson Ruhmkorff in the authority’s press service.
One of the two young men has been convicted of a bloody assassination attempt, the other has been convicted of ordering a businessman in the Stockholm area. They were released in August by two people; at least one of the acquittals was armed and threatened staff in connection with the incident.
They fled the scene in a stolen car that they collided with in Sydöstra vägen, near the institution. Everything indicates that the escape continued later in another car on the E22.
Since then, it is unknown where the two fugitives were. The two perpetrators who released them have not yet been arrested. They are suspected of blatantly promoting flight and blatantly illegal threats.
The two men fled down the road visible in the lower left corner.
