The unknown hole in the hull of the M / S Estonia is having increasing political repercussions.
Liberals are now calling Interior Minister Mikael Damberg (S) and Infrastructure Minister Thomas Eneroth (S) to the Riksdag to answer questions about the discovery.
At the same time, the moderates urge the government not to damage relations with Finland and Estonia.
Several parliamentary parties are lobbying the government on the Estonian issue, which has been at the top of the agenda since Monday.
Later, the Discovery documentary maker revealed that a four meter long hole had been found in the wreckage of the ferry.
Now the Liberals are calling Interior Minister Mikael Damberg (S) and Infrastructure Minister Thomas Eneroth (S) to the Riksdag traffic committee to answer questions.
– I’ll ask you to call them so we can put the facts on the table. We need to know what has happened, how the government sees this and how it plans to handle it in the future, says Representative Helena Gellerman, representative of the Liberals on the Transportation Commission.

“Great trauma”
He says that the Estonian disaster is of such magnitude that the Riksdag must be informed of developments in all situations.
– It is a great trauma for many people and the film arouses much speculation. So it is important that there is an investigation. Otherwise, the wounds run the risk of breaking again.
The fact that there have been allegations from former Estonian government officials about a Swedish blackout exacerbates the situation, Gellerman says.
– If there is something behind these accusations and speculation that another ship caused this, it is really serious. Therefore, it is important that there is an independent investigation of what is behind it, says Helena Gellerman.

“A tragedy”
The moderates’ foreign policy spokesman, Hans Wallmark, asks for “adequate information from the government.”
– This is a tragedy and a pain that connects three states to each other. So it is important that you also in the relationship with them maintain the ability to listen to each other and absorb what they get, says Hans Wallmark, who also wants to see a new investigation of the hole in the Estonian helmet.
On Estonia’s statements about the lies of previous Swedish governments, Wallmark says:
– These are quite remarkable and quite serious opinions directed at Sweden. So there are reasons for Sweden to think about how it affects relations with Estonia. It must be the absolute ambition of the Swedish Government to have good, open and trusting relations with neighboring countries such as Finland and Estonia.
