The vehicles were stolen from the Swedish Armed Forces Facilities Management Regiment in Enköping on 4 February.
Two people entered the area cutting the fence. Inside, two military off-road vehicles, the so-called Galtar, were stolen.
A total of eight people in the case are charged, among other things, with aggravated theft, complicity in aggravated robbery, aggravated reception and unauthorized access to protected objects.
“I didn’t know the robbery would happen”
Sami Jakobsson is suspected of grossly illegal use. The day after the robbery, on February 5, he must have been in one of the vehicles on the roads and in the forest between Tillberga and Möklinta in Västmanland.
After the indictment was filed, the “Big Brother” winner gave his picture of the incident in a clip on YouTube.
One: I have not been involved in planning any theft. Two: I have not been involved in any robbery. Three: I didn’t know the robbery would happen, he says.
– My accusation is based on the fact that I once traveled with one of the vehicles in the forest.
Sami Jakobsson says his friends asked him if he and another wanted to go out and “ride hard cars.”
– We see that it is a military vehicle. My first thought is not that, oh, it was stolen from the Armed Forces, that’s the last thing I would think. Without my thinking is that these are old ATVs refurbished at home. But that was not the case.
Blame it on the dark
According to the profile of the reality show, it was also very dark in the forest. Therefore, he did not reflect on whether the vehicles were stolen or not, he says in the video.
– Since there was a key, it was just a matter of turning and starting. So I haven’t had any function for this to go the way.
Sami Jakobsson explains that he believes it is unfair to be prosecuted.
Prosecutor: “Adventurers”
The vehicles were found a few days after the theft and have been returned. They were not injured.
District Attorney Lena Jansson considers the theft serious because the vehicles are “important to the defense of national security” and of high value.
– None of the accused has any link with the Armed Forces as far as has been known. The driving force behind the acts appears to have been primarily a desire for adventure and a common interest in vehicles. I mean there has also been an economic motive for the theft, he says in a press release.
Sami Jakobsson won “Big Brother” this year. The robbery and driving in the woods took place a few days before he entered the house.
The off-road vehicle 16, nicknamed “Galten”, is a four-wheel drive off-road jeep that is primarily intended for troop transport.
