The Swedish men’s team faces a new collection. On October 8, they face Russia in an international training match, then the Nations League matches against Croatia and Portugal await on October 11 and 14, respectively. All three games are played outside.

In the squad that was introduced on Wednesday, Jordan Larsson has been selected, and Victor Claesson is back after his serious injury.

– It’s a lot of fun to get Victor Claesson out again, considering that he was injured in June last year against Spain, a very ugly injury, but that he has recovered his way.

– It’s really fun to see how it’s started again and how good it’s been, says Janne Andersson.

Victor Claesson was injured on June 10, 2019 in qualifying for the European Championship against Spain as a visitor and has not been in the national team since.

On the offensive side, John Guidetti is out of the team again, but Jordan Larsson, who is successful at Spartak Moscow, has been selected to the team after having been on the January tour earlier.

– John was called after and depending on what you do in training, you can play. Last fall, I thought there used to be multiple players, and now it’s the same. Now I take out, among others, Jordan Larsson who I think goes before, explains the captain of the team Janne Andersson.

“Loyal and intelligent”

He continues to motivate the choice to eliminate Jordan Larsson.

– He went to NEC and had a pretty rough year and came back home, the first year in Norrköping didn’t go as planned. The second year was fantastic and I think it has continued from there.

– He is tactically loyal, a smart player. He’s done really well on the January tours he’s been on and he’s at one of the biggest clubs in Russia today and it will be a lot of fun to see Jordan with us.

Sweden have two Nations League losses so far and are third in the group after losing 1-0 to France and 2-0 to Portugal at home at Friends Stadium in September.
