A multi-million dollar investment with hundreds of jobs in the pipeline.

Mining group LKAB plans to establish a new fossil-free industrial park in Sweden to recycle mining waste and produce raw materials, various media reported.

The industrial park will require an area of up to 50 hectares, rail connection and access to the port. In a press release, LKAB writes that Luleå, Skellefteå or Helsingborg are primarily in mind for the giant establishment.

This pleases Anja Palm, Business Manager in Skellefteå Municipality.

– It is fantastic that LKAB sees that Skellefteå is an attractive municipality for large-scale sustainable production, says Anja Palm to P4 Västerbotten.

The feasibility study for the project is ongoing until 2021, and the Group estimates that full production, in accordance with environmental permits and construction, can be achieved by 2027.
