The number of new corona cases has caused concern in Oslo. In the last two weeks, 619 people have been infected with the virus. The entire city is now classified as red, the highest of the Norwegian infection control infection levels.
On Monday it was announced that a decision was made on new restrictions to break the trend. Among other things, an order is introduced to use mouth guards in public transport. In the past, it has been a recommendation.
– When it is not possible to maintain a distance of one meter, travelers must wear mouth guards. This means everyone must wear a mouth guard on board, says Mayor Raymond Johansen (AP) during a news conference.
Crowd limit
At the same time, a temporary population limit is introduced for indoor events. Now it is no longer allowed to have more than 50 people without fixed seats. Restaurants will also need to register their guests, according to VG.
With regards to infection, all municipal employees will also be advised to work from home.
The new restrictions apply until October 13. Later, the City Council will make a new assessment of the situation.
Goes against the recommendation
The Norwegian Health Directorate, the Norwegian equivalent of the National Board of Health and Welfare, has recommended that the capital limit the number of people who can meet in a household to a maximum of five people. Today, the maximum limit is ten people.
However, the municipal president announces that the limit will not be lowered further in the current situation.
– If we want to continue to be successful in keeping the infection low, we must earn people’s trust, says Johansen at the press conference.
– We must show that we only introduce the measures that are necessary.
All of Oslo is on the red list.
