The Superettan meeting between Umeå and AFC Eskilstuna had a complicated aftermath.
On the Dplay broadcast, you can clearly hear how AFC goalkeeper Joshua Wicks accuses a Umeå player of racism.
– Regardless of whether the judge heard you or not, a report on racism or discrimination should be made, base judge Stefan Johannesson tells Sportbladet.
A crown-stricken Umeå FC stressed by reserve fell 3-0 at home to AFC Eskilstuna.
After the match, it got tricky, when Joshua Wicks got angry and started arguing with the Umeå players and had to be kept away by teammates and officials.
If one is to believe what Wicks himself said when he abandoned the plan, the reason was that he or someone was exposed to racism.
– Is that what you support? Is that what you support here? A fucking racist on your team, you hear Wicks say on the Dplay stream.
– Do you want to support racism? That is too good. Should one have to accept such shit these days? continues the American.
When Sportbladet contacts the AFC club’s coach, José Franco, on Monday, he clarifies that they do not want to comment on the incident.
– He doesn’t want to give any comment and he (Wicks) doesn’t want to give any comment, says Franco.
Umeå FC club manager Danny Persson says this to Västerbottens-Kuriren:
– I only heard the doorman standing up and yelling, so I had no idea what happened before. Then she yelled that someone had said something racist, but I don’t know what or who should have said it. But I know he (Wicks) was involved in situations with some UFC players early in the game, says Danny Persson.
The Umeå club manager says he doesn’t know more than that today.
– If something hits us, we will definitely solve it, but it hasn’t gotten that far yet.
“You must write a report”
According to the referee base of the Swedish Football Association, Stefan Johannesson, the match referee must submit a report to the disciplinary committee after the incident, regardless of how the referee perceived the situation and the basis for the allegations.
– Even if the judge has not heard you, you should write a report in any case when it comes to such things, Johannesson tells Sportbladet.
Last week, Halmstad player Dusan Djuric was suspended for four games after speaking out racistly against Umeå player Deniz Yaldir in a Superettan match.
