In total, the Social Services of 26 municipalities bear witness to a greater number of complaints of concern about children and young people suspected of being involved in gang crimes. This is reported by the TT news agency, which in a survey asked if municipalities have seen an increase compared to five years ago.
A total of 179 out of 290 municipalities in Sweden responded to the survey. Among the municipalities that are experiencing an increase are Karlstad, Östhammar, Borlänge, Örnsköldsvik, Falun, Motala, Skövde and Uddevalla.

Young people are usually between 14 and 16 years old when they first report anxiety, according to the survey responses. But children between the ages of nine and ten are also recruited.
– It’s about children, and that’s what worries me. There have always been young people in crime, but it is escalating, at the same time that gang violence becomes more and more serious, Monika Boström, leader of the social administration group in Örebro, tells TT.
