The tone leading up to Tuesday’s presidential election debate, the first of three, has begun to improve. In a statement on Twitter, Donald Trump writes that he wants Joe Biden to be drug tested before the debate.
“I will definitely require that Sleepy Joe Biden take a drug test before or after Tuesday’s debate,” the president wrote on Twitter.
“Of course, I myself will agree to be tested as well. His performance in the debate has broken records, to put it mildly. Can only drugs explain this discrepancy?”
Both Trump and Biden have come forward for ill-considered statements and frogs in public. In recent months, Trump has repeatedly raised Joe Biden’s mental health issue and suggested that Democrats can use drugs to perform better.
Donald Trump has not provided any evidence for his accusations. For the most part, Biden has escaped the attacks, but in a televised interview on Saturday, Biden said the president’s “lies” reminded him of Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Germany’s propaganda minister.
