Earlier this week, French Health Minister Olivier Véran addressed the French people and warned that the infection is increasing in the country.
Patrick Bouet, who is head of the medical association CNOM, does not believe that the minister has managed to convey the seriousness of the situation.
– What he did not say is that in three or four weeks, if nothing changes, France will have a widespread outbreak throughout the country, during several long months of autumn and winter, he tells the newspaper, according to TT.
Not enough staff
If Bouet’s fears come true, he doesn’t think there are enough health workers to handle the spread as well as last spring, when they performed “miracles.”
– Many of them are exhausted, traumatized, tells Le Journal du Dimanche, according to TT.
Last week, 4,100 people have been hospitalized in France due to covid-19. On Thursday and Friday, around 16,000 new corona cases were confirmed in the country, which is the highest numbers so far per day, according to TT.
On Saturday, however, the number of new registered cases decreased slightly to 14,400.
